Ebor Festival

York's four-day August highlight — Group 1 quality alongside the famous Ebor Handicap.

The Ebor Festival is York's showpiece four-day meeting in August, blending top-class Group 1 racing with one of the season's great betting heats, the Ebor Handicap. The Knavesmire's quality and its huge, competitive fields make it a favourite of punters and a magnet for progressive, well-handicapped horses.

York is one of the fairest galloping tracks in Britain — wide, flat and left-handed with a long straight — so there are few excuses and the best horse usually gets its chance to be seen. It suits genuine stayers that quicken off a strong gallop rather than sharp, nippy types. In the big-field handicaps a slight draw edge can appear on softer ground, so the early races are worth watching.

How Algohorse reads the Ebor Festival

Through the meeting, our model reads every race — probabilities and value against the market — and publishes its selections, registered before the off and graded against the result. See today's racecards or how it works.
